Werner and Melanie write:
Phoebe's first furball

Our poor girl was sick last night. Repeatedly. We started our day with a cat vomit scavenger hunt. It looks like our bedroom was the end of the trail (ah, so that's why she made that noise at 1 am!), with just a little. The worst was in the nursery, where she deposited the first furball she has passed in the nine months she has been with us as well as a rather substantial volume of macerated cat food. More, Werner discovered, in her litter box. And at the bottom of the stairs. And on the (long searched for) mat at the front door.

She didn't touch her food (wet or dry) overnight, although Werner reports that she just had a nibble on the dry. We also changed her wet food, so when she's ready, fresh food awaits.

We think she was scared that we'd be angry. She hid for a little while this morning, and seemed skittish. So while Werner cleaned up the last splotch, Melanie played with her with one of her favourite toys in the hope that it would reassure her.

For such a furry kitty, it really is a wonder that she hasn't passed more furballs. We do give her preventative medicine for furballs, and it must work. But this one she finally coughed up, she had clearly been working on for quite some time.
